I have looked at other photographers who make a living from workshops and the qualifications they have and what their courses offer, this is once again to further my market knowledge if I explore workshops further in the future. I have found a photographer called Nigel Wilson he is a professional photographer and tutor whose clients include the BBC, Sky and The Sunday Times . He is a very experienced teacher, leading inspirational classes at many institutions, including New York University, Photofusion and London's famous Camera Club, he also runs small classes for MA graduates who would like to follow in his footsteps and run courses, he would be a good contact to make. You may just be starting out with your camera and would like to get a clearer understanding of your camera controls. The award winning Weekend Course is an intensive and comprehensive workshop which will transform the quality of your photographs.

COURSE CONTENT

Shooting on fully automatic 'modes' is very restrictive in terms of the creative results you can acheive.

Taking control of aperture and shutter speed is absolutely fundamental if you wish to improve your photography. These topics, amongst others, are clearly explained in an easy to understand, straightforward manner. By the end of the weekend, you will be MAKING photographs rather than simply taking them. Shooting a photo project on the Sunday and seeing the results immediately is an ideal way to put your new skills into practice!

Travel Photography Weekend Course [Intermed. level] - £285

Travelling and photography is the perfect partnership. Nothing can be more rewarding (or frustrating!) than trying to capture a memorable place or event.

This course will provide you with the technical and compositional skills to dramatically improve your images.

On the Saturday, you will be asked to bring in a sample of your work, so that we can pinpoint where mistakes and successes have been made. The ability to critique your own work is crucial to improving your shots.

On Sunday, we will be shooting at a special location, where you will be able to put into practice the skills and vision we have explored the previous day. Sunday afternoon sees us back at the studio, where we will review your project.

Whilst concentrating on Travel Photography, this intermediate course is aimed at anyone who would like to improve their photographic awareness and critiquing skills. It is the perfect follow up to the Weekend Course.

COURSE CONTENT

We will look at many outstanding examples of travel photography and break down exactly how the photographer has acheived the image, both technically and aesthetically. Topics covered include:

- Lenses and equipment

- Essential and speciality Filters

- Achieving good composition

- Coping with difficult lighting situations

- Landscape and Cityscape techniques

- Shooting buildings, including interiors

- Night photography, including lightning and fireworks

- People

- Wildlife

This course is guaranteed to ensure that the places you visit will remain truly memorable!

Before setting out on either of our Thames routes, we look at the challenges that twilight and night photography presents. Camera operation, which differs slightly from daylight photography, is clearly explained. we also look at some examples of the unique night scenes that London offers.

BRITISH WILDLIFE CENTRE - £275 (TWO DAY COURSE)

We are very pleased to announce that the famous British Wildlife Centre in Surrey has allowed us access to their wonderful collection!

The combination of fantastic vantage points, natural settings and a peaceful environment will give you unrivalled opportunities to shoot great images of British wildlife.

On Friday, the centre will be closed to the public, allowing us photograph the amazing array of animals.

These include a wide variety of mammals such as Scottish wildcats, otters, polecats, foxes and red squirrels. We will be accompanied by an experienced keeper who will take us into the actual animal enclosures.

On Sunday, we will review the very best of your images back at our central London studio where we will also run a critique of other shots you have taken.
