The Garden Of Eden

Garden of Eden - Created For Mankind -Jedd Griffin

The Garden of Eden is described in Genesis, Chapters 2 and 3. The Lord created the Garden specifically for Adam, the first man, whom God had formed. In Genesis 2:8-9, we read: "The LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there He put the man whom He had formed. And out of the ground the LORD God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food." Some believe the Garden was atop a mountain, or perhaps it was an outlet for freshwater springs, because we read, "a river went out of Eden to water the garden, and from there it parted and became four riverheads" (Genesis 2:10). Thus, the Garden of Eden was perfect. It offered both beauty and sustenance, being home to every tree "that is pleasant to the sight and good for food, " and a source of freshwater from the river to drink. As for man, God "put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it " (Genesis 2:15).

I have found this reference to the garden of eden very informative when used in context with my project. The garden was made by God for man and beast, yet even from the initial creation man was given power of beast." Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."(Genesis 1:26) We were give a false sense of grandeur which is seen in todays world. Less biblically and more so politically, the political elite make changes to our eden (the world) with this idea that they are "chosen" because they are better or more informed than the average man or beast.

So we see this idea of the powerful controlling the environment around them. Such as in the bible where we see Eve give into her selfish temptation and eat from the tree of knowledge but also convincing Adam it was a good idea to eat the fruit. This pack like mentality is something that we need to tackle, the environment can't cope with man having the upper hand, controlling what is created, what lives, what gets to flower. Our need for self preservation and our selfish nature that has been installed into us like a hard copy within a computer needs to change.

The human race isn't better than any other animal just different. We can't see the differences between us and animals and this is a weakness because in not understanding our differences we can't find an Eden in our existence.
